Grumpy Cat is Dead After Helping Millions of People Smile

Grumpy Cat, Internet legend and star of too many viral memes to count, has passed away at the age of seven, according to her owners.

The post left little room for speculation. Grumpy Cat was fighting a urinary tract infection which resulted in complications “too tough for her to overcome.”

Grump Cat left this world while in her mother’s arms on Tuesday, May 14, after having “helped millions of people smile all around the world – even when times were tough.”

Grumpy Cat, named after her somewhat cartoonish grumpy facial expression, reached all corners of the web in her short seven years. During that time she amassed a whopping 2.4 million followers on very own Instagram account and a net worth of a mind boggling $1 million.

Her cartoonish looks that won over millions of hearts after a 2012 post to Reddit by her owner, Bryan, are thanks to a underbite and a case of feline dwarfism. The Internet is understandably torn up, with many mourners taking to Twitter to express their grief.
