(TMU) – The controversial rapper and entrepreneur Kanye West has stated in numerous interviews over the past few years that he has been preparing for a career in politics, but now he has taken it a bit further with a tweet announcing his intentions of running for president.

It is not entirely clear if he plans on running for office this year, because it is extremely late in the campaign process and pretty much impossible to make a serious effort at this point, but his tweet did end with the hashtag “#2020 vision.”

In a Twitter post on Saturday night, West sent out a Tweet to his followers that read, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States … #2020VISION.”

During a 2018 interview with Power 92.3’s DJ Pharris Kanye promised that the music industry would be strong under his reign as president.

“One of my main things [I’ll address] once I’m president is the medical industry. I’m going to make sure that the medical industry flourishes. There’s one thing I learned by hanging around with Jay-Z, and being married to my wife, is you can’t fuck up the paper.. That’s the problem with a lot of the radical leaders in the past,” he said.

Kanye West has become extremely controversial in recent years due to his public support of Donald Trump. However, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have used their influence with Trump to have multiple nonviolent offenders released from prison. It is not clear if West plans to run as a Democrat, Republican, or with a third party.

In many interviews given after his apparent mental breakdown a few years ago, West said that he disagreed with many of Trump’s policies, but had admiration for him because of the fact that he opened the door for other celebrities to become presidents.

He stated on numerous occasions that he intends to follow Trump’s lead in using his celebrity status to secure political power.

West is not the only rapper to recently express interest in getting involved in politics. As The Mind Unleashed reported earlier this year, Cardi B has said that she would be interested in running for office. Killer Mike of the rap duo Run The Jewels has also said that he plans on running for office at some point.

Other celebrities, like Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock,” have also suggested that they could make a run for the presidential office in the future.

Someday it might be possible to see some of your favorite rappers or actors perform on a debate stage to compete for your vote, but the chances are slim that they could do much worse than the people who have been running the country for generations.

Last year, The Mind Unleashed reported that Kanye West has plans to help build low-income housing for the homeless in California, but for some reason, he wants the buildings to look like Luke Skywalker’s childhood home.
