Mother of 2 Says Smoking Weed ‘Makes Me A Better Mom’
Smoking marijuana may have been a taboo subject for a long time, but now, the “wonder” plant is finally becoming more and more acceptable.
Cannabis rules have been less restrictive throughout the years. Although recreational cannabis usage is now legal in many locations, the historical myths and societal stigmas around it persist today. Parents, in particular, have undergone so much scrutiny for smoking cannabis. Well, this mom reckons it actually makes her a better parent.
A mom like any other
Caitlin Fladager, a 28-year-old Canadian, resides in Vancouver, where it is allowed to consume marijuana for both recreational and therapeutic purposes. Caitlin is like any other mom. She also has a website called Her View From Home. On her site, her bio reads:
I’m a mom to two amazing kids. I’m married to my high school sweetheart. I got pregnant when I was 18, and married when I was 20. I started early on most things in life, but I’m right where I’m supposed to be. I’m an advocate for mental health and self love.
A mom that smokes weed
A whole room has been devoted to her habit of taking the class B drug, which the mother-of-two believes improves her parenting of her children. She recently posted a video to her Instagram account in which she discussed the things in her home that ‘make sense’ to her as a mother who consumes marijuana.
Caitlin captions the video with the phrase “A separate living room in the garage for (marijuana emojis).” The video shows her garage with a wide corner couch. She also said that she stores kid’s foods, goodies and snacks in her cabinets for when she gets the ‘munchies,’ and that she keeps perfume in the garage to help her ‘smell better.’
How Does Marijuana Make Caitlin a Better Mom?
According to the young mother: “I have never been the most patient with my two kids. Weed makes me a better mom, as I get a good night’s sleep after I smoke. I wake up well-rested, and with a more clear mind.”
In her social media posts, Caitlin is candid about the health advantages she’s had from smoking marijuana recreationally, including how it’s helped with panic attacks and appetite loss, as well as sleep deprivation and insomnia. She has recommended it to other parents who may be experiencing similar difficulties.
Caitlin draws attention to the double standard that cannabis is subjected to when compared to alcohol in one of her Instagram posts: “It’s so funny to me how frowned upon marijuana is. No one looks twice when a mom says she enjoys ‘mom juice’ aka wine after her kids are in bed. But when a mom says she smokes weed, it’s a huge shock.”
In another viral video, Caitlyn explains why she told her children about her smoking habit rather than trying to hide it.
