Mike Tyson is Hosting a Cannabis-Themed Music Festival on His 420-Acre Ranch

Update: It’s not entirely clear if this “cannabis friendly” festival will actually allow cannabis. A close read of the website implies that it does not, and local community newspaper the Desert Sun reported that they haven’t been able to get any definitive answers.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson recently announced that he will be hosting a cannabis-themed music festival in California on February 23rd. The all-ages Kind Music Festival will take place at the Tyson Ranch Resort in Desert Hot Springs.

According to a Press Release:

Kind Music Festival will be a one-day “pop-up” micro-festival event at the future site of the Tyson Ranch Resort, a 412-acre entertainment complex, luxury glamping resort and cannabis research & design facility in Desert Hot Springs.

KMF will transform the desert into a pop-up concert experience complete with food trucks, a ‘ChillVille” with 100 specialty bean bags; a Fun Zone featuring massive inflatable rides, obstacle courses and mazes, bar area, Vendor Village and limited edition hoodies…a truly unique music festival experience where all ages are welcome!

KMF salutes California’s progressive stance on cannabis and its updated recreational/medical laws that go into effect on January 1, 2019. However there will be no sales or giveaways of cannabis products at the festival…we look forward to making that a reality in the near future!

Tyson recently announced the lineup, including Miguel, Starcrawler, Yonee and All My Friends Hate Me.

The idea of a Mike Tyson cannabis festival certainly seems interesting, but the festival’s social media accounts don’t seem to be getting very much attention. Maybe I’m just out of the loop, but I haven’t heard of any of those artists before and usually more than fives acts are expected on the bill for an event of this nature that begins at 2pm.

General admission tickets are going for $85.00, with a listed service fee of $12.68 while VIP tickets are $165.00, with a listed service fee of $20.47. VIP tickets are said to include, “Dedicated Front of Stage Viewing, VIP Lounge with Bar and Food including 2 drink tickets and meal ticket, VIP Parking, Express Entry, Upgraded bathroom.”

There was a $55 presale ticket option available before the announcement of the lineup, but that option is no longer available.

Kind Music Festival promises to donate $1 from every ticket sale to Standing United, a non-profit organization focused on helping the homeless and people who suffer from drug addiction.
