For at least a decade, a rumor has been swirling around the internet that the pigeon lady from Home Alone 2 was played by the famous British news anchor Piers Morgan.

There is a striking resemblance between Morgan and the actress who portrayed the pigeon lady in the 1992 film, but the character’s real name is actually Brenda Fricker.

During a segment on a recent “Good Morning Britain” episode, Morgan’s co-host Susanna Reid brought the topic up to his face.

“Can we just have a look at ‘Home Alone 2’ because, frankly, it is the best picture. Lots of people watch ‘Home Alone 2’ and wonder if this is you,” Reid said.

Morgan replied saying, “Why does this keep coming around? That is not me. I am not the bag lady in ‘Home Alone 2.’”

Brenda Fricker retired from acting several years ago, but she had a very successful career beyond her small role as the pigeon lady in Home Alone 2.

She has appeared in more than 30 films and television roles. In 1990, she became the first Irish actress to win an Academy Award, earning the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film “My Left Foot.”

She was honored with the inaugural Maureen O’Hara Award at the Kerry Film Festival in 2008, and this year she was listed at number 26 on The Irish Times list of Ireland’s greatest film actors.

Home Alone 2 was not the most notable moment of her career, although that is how many Americans recognize her best. In fact, in the credits for the film, she is simply listed as “pigeon lady.”

In 2012, Fricker told the Chronicle Herald that, “Of all the films I’ve made, only three do I remember where I felt I’d moved forward as an actress: Cloudburst, My Left Foot and The Field.”

Morgan began his career in 1989 as a writer and editor for several British tabloids, including The Sun, News of the World, and the Daily Mirror. In 1994, at the age of 29, he was appointed editor of the News of the World by Rupert Murdoch, which made him the youngest editor of a British national newspaper in more than half a century.

Morgan has hosted numerous talk shows including Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and Piers Morgan Live, before falling into his current role with Good Morning Britain.

Around this time each year, Morgan is forced to respond to allegations about his role in Home Alone 2.
