Pop Idol Star Darius Campbell Danesh Suddenly Dies in Bed

He was only 41 years old. The cause of death is unknown.

Darius Campbell Danesh, a famous singer from Scotland, has died unexpectedly in his own bed at the age of 41.

The news was confirmed by the former Pop Idol contestant’s family, who stated that he had been found dead in his apartment room in the United States on Thursday (August 11).

The police have found no signs of unusual circumstances surrounding his passing.

The cause of death is unknown.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh,” a statement released from the family reads.

“Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office. The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances. The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue. We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother.”

The singer, who was formerly known as Darius Danesh, made his debut on the ITV talent competition show Popstars in the year 2001.

After that, he went on to compete in the inaugural season of Pop Idol and ended up coming in third place, behind Will Young and Gareth Gates.

Later in life, Darius developed a successful career on stage, performing in a number of productions, including Chicago, Guys and Dolls, and Gone With the Wind.

The celebrity has stated in the past that he is indebted to Simon Cowell, his former instructor and a judge on Pop Idol, for convincing him to play Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences I’ve had and all the opportunities that it opened up and to be able to call Simon Cowell a friend and to be able to have dinner with him,” Darius said at the time.

The singer is best known for his hit song “Colourblind.”
