In a statement to The Oklahoman, Flint’s publicist said the musician passed away while sleeping on Saturday. Brenda, Flint’s wife, said on Facebook on Tuesday,  “We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in.”

According to those close to him, country star Jake Flint passed away barely hours after his wedding. He was only 37 years young. Publicist Clif Doyal informed The Oklahoman that Flint passed away in his sleep the night after his wedding.

Brenda, Flint’s wife, wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday about the tragedy: “We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in. People aren’t meant to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I just really need him to come back. I can’t take much more. I need him here.”

Brenda also shared a wedding video of the couple. She stated her confusion in the form of a written statement. “I don’t understand.” She said.

Before his unexpected death, Flint was in the middle of a multi-state tour with an upcoming stop in Claremore, Oklahoma on December 2. From “classic Texas Singer/Songwriters” to “90s grunge rock,” his social media bio lists a wide range of artists that have influenced him musically.

Brenda Cline, his former manager, posted the sad news on Facebook and that she “loved him much like a son.”

She goes on to say, “Jake has a million friends and I’m not sure how everyone will cope with this tragic loss,” she wrote. “We need prayers- it’s all so surreal. Please please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake’s precious mother, his sister and the rest of his family and friends. This is going to be incredibly difficult for so many. We love you Jake and in our hearts forever.”

As of this writing, there is uncertainty surrounding Flint’s untimely demise.
