The Mysterious Grey Giant of the Scottish Highlands & Other Archeological Anomalies

With more and more evidence of super-sized beings living on this planet at different points throughout our ancient and more recent history, we cannot ignore the tale of the Grey Man of the Ben MacDhui Mountain peek.

The return of giants is mentioned in various Jewish teachings as well as in numerous biblical references. Numerous recent archaeological discoveries indicate that stories of these famed beings are no longer mere myths.

The Smithsonian Institute has even been accused of destroying numerous giant-sized human skeletons that were unearthed in the early 1990s. When these allegations were put forth by the American Institution of Alternative Archeology (AIAA) – that the Smithsonian Institution had ruined thousands of giant human remains, the organization responded by trying to sue the AIAA for defamation and an attempt to damage the reputation of the 168-year old institution.

While some claiming to have found the archeological remains of giant humans are later found to be the perpetrators of a hoax, there are significant and reputable bodies around the globe which have indeed unearthed enormously sized skeletons.

Some have found the sarcophagi of humans that are 18 feet tall. Archaeologists in Bulgaria have discovered the remains of what they described as a “huge skeleton” in downtown Varna, a city on the shores of the Black Sea were a civilization spans at least 7,000 years.

There are also tales of 18 ‘strangely large’ skeletons being excavated from a dig site at Lake Delavan in Wisconsin which was overseen by Beloit College.  It included more than 200 effigy mounds that proved to be classic examples of 8th century Woodland Culture, but also enormous skeletons with elongated skulls were found.

These are but a handful of accounts of real-life giants that have come in from around the world.

When we begin to question the historical significance of beings like this roaming the earth, and the subsequent attempts of certain institutions to cover up their existence, stories like those told by Professor J. Norman Collie of University College London, an expert in chemistry, Fellow of the Royal Society and the Royal Geographical Society, past president of the Alpine Club and member of the 1921 Mount Everest Committee, start to seem more than plausible.

In his famous account, he tells of his encounter with the mysterious Grey Man of Ben MacDhui, a peek in the Scottish mountain range. At a 1925 meeting of hillwalkers of the Scottish mountain range, called the Cairngorm Club, Collie told the following tale:

“I was returning from the cairn on the summit in a mist when I began to think I heard something else than merely the noise of my own footsteps. Every few steps I took, I heard a crunch and then another crunch, as if someone was walking after me but taking steps three or four times the length of my own. I said to myself, this is all nonsense. I listened and heard it again but could see nothing in the mist. As I walked on and the eerie crunch, crunch sounded behind me I was seized with terror and took to my heels, staggering blindly among the boulders for four or five miles nearly down to Rothiemurchus forest. Whatever you make of it I do not know, but there is something very queer about the top of Ben MacDui and I will not go back there again myself, I know.”

Those who simply want to dismiss Collie’s encounter have yet another tale to consider. In 1958, naturalist and mountaineer Alexander Tewnion wrote in The Scots magazine of what he described as the strangest experience of his life:

“…In October 1943 I spent a ten-day leave climbing alone in the Cairngorms… One afternoon, just as I reached the summit cairn of Ben MacDhui, mist swirled across the Lairig Ghru and enveloped the mountain. The atmosphere became dark and oppressive, a fierce, bitter wind whisked among the boulders, and… an odd sound echoed through the mist – a loud footstep, it seemed. Then another, and another… A strange shape loomed up, receded, came charging at me! Without hesitation I whipped out the revolver and fired three times at the figure. When it still came on I turned and hared down the path, reaching Glen Derry in a time that I have never bettered. You may ask was it really the Fear Laith Mhor? Frankly, I think it was.”

Numerous other mountaineers have offered similar tales of a giant figure that they have seen in the Cairngorms.

Others have tried to dismiss these encounters as a simple projection of the mountaineers’ own shadow in heavy fog. This may or may not be true, but with numerous accounts of giants living among us for possible millennia, is it so hard to believe that some may still exist?

Researchers recently found that Australian Aboriginals may have bred with a mysterious, previously unknown human lineage.

Additionally, human-like species which were not previously known, beings named Homo naledi were recently found in South Africa with a much smaller skull than modern humans. Would it be so outlandish that much larger skulls and skeletons are found in certain species which scientific bodies are just now trying to understand (while others may have known the truth of these skeletons’ existence for some time, and chose to hide them)?

Some suggest the ancient elongated skulls and enormous skeletal remains are not truly human. We’ve all heard the tales of Paul Bunyan, the giant in the children’s tale, Jack and the Beanstalk, and even the one-eyed Cyclopes, a giant of ancient Greek and Roman tales. Oddly human, humanoid, or alien, there is something BIG missing from the picture of human evolution and our modern-day proportions.
