(TMU) — A man who broke into an 82-year-old woman’s home in Rochester, New York, found out the hard way that he definitely picked the wrong lady to mess with.

Willie Murphy was headed to bed Thursday night before a man started pounding on her door after 11 p.m., claiming he was sick and needed her to call an ambulance, reported WHAM.

She explained:

“He was outside and saying, ‘Please call an ambulance,’ saying, ‘I’m sick, I’m sick.’”

At that point, Murphy called the police and refused to let the man into her house. The man became enraged and busted right through the door.

Continuing, she said:

“I hear a loud noise … I’m thinking, ‘What the heck was that? The young man is in my home. He broke the door.”

The suspect soon learned an important lesson from Murphy, who is an award-winning competitive powerlifter and bodybuilder who goes to the local YMCA almost every day to work out and stay fit despite her advanced age.

Murphy had earned the first place title within her division at the World Natural Powerlifting Federation’s championships and has even been named 2014 Lifter of the Year after she won the gold medal in the deadlift, power curl, and bench press competitions.

The record-breaking dynamo has even earned national recognition through a viral video and a feature article by ESPN.

Continuing, she explained that when the man broke in it was “kind of semi-dark and I’m alone, and I’m old.”

“But guess what, I’m tough,” she said, lifting her arms to flex her guns. Murphy added:

“He picked the wrong house to break into.”

Murphy immediately threw herself into a struggle with the young intruder—using her household furniture and various items to attack the man who disturbed her peace.

She said:

“I took that table and I went to working on him … And guess what? The table broke.”

Murphy then quickly used the metal table legs to keep pummeling the man.

She then jumped on the man a couple times before running to the kitchen and grabbing a bottle of baby shampoo to squirt into the man’s face, she said.

Just to make sure he learned his lesson, she then took her broom and offered him a few swift blows. The whacks from the broom seemingly convinced the man that he had made a grave mistake.

But the man was simply too heavy, Murphy said. While she can easily deadlift 225 pounds at the gym, the intruder was a bit harder to move than the weights she’s used to bench-pressing. Continuing, she said:

“He wants to get the heck out of there. And I’m trying to help him get out of the house, but he’s too heavy. I can’t move him. He’s dead weight.”

Her struggle only ended when the police finally arrived in response to her earlier call. Murphy said:

“So they come in … He’s laying down already because I had really did a number on that man. I’m serious.”

The man was eventually carried off in a stretcher to an ambulance. Murphy believes that his feeling was simply one of relief as he was rescued from her home. She added:

“I think he was happy when he went in the ambulance because I sent him in the ambulance. Yes, I did.”

How many of us will be able to defend ourselves so brilliantly when we reach our 80s? With her fighting attitude and the physical strength to back it up, Willie Murphy has definitely shown that in her case, age is no excuse for being a victim!
