Confirmed! Johnny Depp Is Finally Returning To The Big Screen With Brand New Movie

After a long absence on the big screen, Johnny Depp is making his comeback. According to Hollywood Reporter, Depp will make his acting debut for the first time since accusations of abuse were levied against him in 2016. This comes amid the highly publicized ongoing trial between Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Following charges of domestic violence between them, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard (moreso Johnny) were practically ostracized from the entertainment industry. After the claims were revealed in 2016, Depp has not been involved in any films since 2020, therefore putting an end to all of his film endeavors at the moment.

A number of petitions have been launched since then, including one that gained more than 3 million signatures to have Heard removed from Aquaman 2.

After losing a libel claim against Amber Heard in the United Kingdom, Depp was replaced as the star of Fantastic Beasts in 2020. Mads Mikkelsen played the part of Grindelwald in the 2022 film The Secrets Of Dumbledore, succeeding Johnny Depp.

He acknowledged that Warner Brothers, the company responsible for the Fantastic Beasts films, had requested him to resign. He still maintained his innocence in the face of the accusations leveled against him. “My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false,” he wrote in a statement.

As part of his continuing legal battles with Heard, Depp also severed relations with Disney and his most recognized character, Captain Jack Sparrow.

It was already announced that Depp will be reprising his role as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Due to the ongoing media attention surrounding the claims against Depp, he was forced to withdraw from the film, which is presently on hold.

He said at his most recent trial that if Disney ever approached him about reprising his role as Jack Sparrow, he would decline the opportunity out of principle. “…there was a deep and distinct sense of feeling betrayed by the people that I’ve worked hard for,” he said during testimony with Heard’s lawyer.

Fans are overjoyed by the prospect of Depp returning to the big screen, which has emerged amid the highly publicized current case of the actor.

According to Variety, the film will begin filming in France this summer, at locations such as the Versailles Palace and other famous Parisian monuments.
