Everyone knows the frustration that goes along with being stuck in traffic. You feel anxious, hoping not to miss the green light. You also feel slightly annoyed, simply because you are being forced to wait. While the human species could afford to become more patient, it’s always nice to avoid hassle whenever possible. For this reason, we expect many people will appreciate The Bubble, a flying water car that can make your daily commute a breeze.

The water taxi was developed by the French company SeaBubbles. As AutoBlog reports, it is silent, emits zero emissions, and can glide effortlessly across a river, sea, or lake without creating waves. The company’s latest prototype was tested on a lake in Geneva last month. Now, SeaBubbles is conducting a five-week trial in Paris.

SeaBubbles is passionate about the water taxi, simply because it could make trips quicker and lower carbon emissions. In fact, the company claims taking a water route versus roads could cut one’s daily commute in half in some cities.

For instance, SeaBubbles estimates that going from the Dubai Marina to downtown Dubai would take 43 minutes by car. But should one commute via the Bubble, it would take just 26 minutes.

By next month, SeaBubbles hopes to launch pre-orders. And within 5 years, the company aims to have Bubble taxis in 50 cities.

In the future, SeaBubbles will unveil a docking system and an app that will show users whether or not a Bubble taxi would save them time. Through the app, they could order a Bubble Taxi. As Inhabitat reports, the dock is designed to further reduce carbon emissions by capturing solar, wind, and water energy which would charge Bubbles between rides.
