Gigantic Snake Slithers Across Roof and Tries to Enter Home Through Open Window

Early Tuesday (August 23) morning on a quiet street in England near Southampton, a gigantic snake was spotted slithering across a roof and trying to enter a bedroom through an open window.

The snake, believed to be an albino Burmese Python, was estimated to be nearly 18 feet long by a local resident who saw it. However, it’s not clear how large the snake actually was. If it really was that long, it’d be one of the biggest pythons ever measured.

Around 5:30 in the morning on Tuesday, terrified residents of the neighborhood noticed the serpent slithering on a roof, just in time to see someone inside the house prodding it with a broom.

A 62-year-old woman named Jenny Warwick who lives across the street in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, observed it all unfold as her neighbors attempted to keep the creature out of their home.

She was shocked when she saw the gigantic snake. At first, she was unable to convince her husband that there really was a python slithering around on their street.

“I saw something on the roof and thought it must be a plastic tube, but then its head started moving,” she said.

“I told my husband, Steven, but he said don’t be silly,” she explained.

“I have a dog called Rodney, and he was really barking and going mad,” she added.

Jenny continued:

“I asked a neighbor outside if they could see something on the roof because I didn’t have my glasses and I wasn’t sure if I was seeing things. We realized that it was definitely a snake and it was moving all over the roof trying to find a way to get down. My husband hates snakes, and he couldn’t get to work fast enough. It’s not what you want to see first thing in the morning, I think it’s very irresponsible to let it loose.”

Eventually, Jenny saw her neighbors use a car bonnet to push the gigantic snake out the window and down to the ground, which resulted in a “almighty thud.”

Another neighbor then reportedly “looked after it” for awhile, hoping the python’s owner would return to claim it.

Some folks in the area eventually made the decision to go a neighbor’s house who used to keep snakes because they suspected that the python might be hers.

“I was woken by people banging on my door talking about a snake in the road,” the anonymous woman explained. She did not wish to provide her name.

“It wasn’t mine, but I said they could leave it in my conservatory until it woke up,” the woman said.

She continued:

“It’s a very dangerous snake and it’s massive. I felt sick when my friend told me it was trying to get into someone’s house. There could have been a baby in there or anything.”

“I used to keep snakes and I know that when they’re hungry they can turn nasty,” she added.

“I was bitten by my python a number of times.”

The unidentified woman then called the snake’s owner and he ultimately showed up to take his python back to his house, which was only a short distance away.
