(TMU) — Actor Seth Rogen recently announced that he will be hosting a county fair to raise money and awareness for research into Alzheimer’s disease.

Rogen’s public efforts to help with the disease began back in 2014 when he appeared before Congress with hopes of convincing them to make Alzheimer’s research a priority.

“First I should answer the question I assume many of you are asking, yes I’m aware this has nothing to do with the legalization of marijuana. In fact, if you can believe it, this concerns something that I find even more important,” Rogen said.

Congress really isn’t in the business of helping people, so Rogen took matters into his own hands and launched a non-profit. The organization, Hilarity for Charity, and has been used to host comedy-variety shows in Los Angeles and New York. Rogen says that all profits made from the events have been going to fund Alzheimer’s research.

According to a statement, the organization is “dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring change, and accelerating progress in Alzheimer’s care, research, and support.”

The success of the events has inspired Rogen to take the project a step further, while adding one of his favorite things to the equation. Next month, Rogen and Hilarity for Charity will be hosting a carnival-style county fair. This one-off event will take place in Los Angeles, but may become a regular event if it is a success like his previous shows.

“We here at Hilarity for Charity love to fight Alzheimer’s disease, but we also love rides, food, alcohol, and weed!!” Rogen said in a promo video.

Apparently, celebrities will be running carnival games as well.

Seth Rogen promised in the video that there will be rides and “games with your favorite celebrities and comedians operating them. We also love trying to be good people so that in the event there is an afterlife, we don’t go to hell.”

The website for the event says that there will be celebrity guests, which include, Adam Devine, Andrew Rannells, Ben Feldman, Casey Wilson, Ilana Glazer, Ike Barinholtz, Jeff Ross, Josh Gad, Kate Micucci, Nick Kroll, Regina Hall, Riki Lindhome, and more.

The event will also feature a half-pipe performance by skating legend Tony Hawk and a performance from Grammy Award-winning artist, Anderson .Paak.

Rogen became interested in advancing Alzheimer’s research after watching his mother-in-law develop the disease. In the few years since starting his organization, Rogen has been able to raise over $7 million.

The event will take place on September 14, 2019 from 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm at The Row DTLA at 777 Alameda, Los Angeles, CA.

Note: A representative of Hilarity For Charity informed us that the use of cannabis is not permitted at this event.
