Queen Elizabeth II Has Just Passed Away At 96

Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned for 70 years, passed away in Balmoral at the age of 96, making her the longest-reigning queen in British history.

Her son, King Charles III, said that the news of his mother’s passing was a “moment of great sadness” for him and the rest of his family, and that her passing will be “deeply felt” all over the globe.

Concerns about her health began to surface early on Thursday, and senior members of the royal family quickly traveled to her estate in Scotland to check on her, BBC reports.

The announcement of her passing came just a few hours after the palace made the statement that the queen’s physicians were “concerned” about her health and that they were keeping her under “medical supervision” at Balmoral Castle, the estate of the British royal family located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where she has been spending her summer vacation.

According to the relevant spokespersons for the various members of the royal family, members of the royal family, including the queen’s four children, swiftly congregated by her bedside at Balmoral. That afternoon, she passed away.

Queen Elizabeth II held the title of longest-reigning queen of the United Kingdom. She became queen in 1952, and in June of this year, she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, which marked her seventieth year in her role as monarch.

It is expected that her oldest son, Charles, Prince of Wales, will succeed his mother as King of the United Kingdom. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who is married to Prince Charles, will eventually take on the title of queen consort.
